Genesis

Genesis was donated to us in 2019 and was the fifth horse we brought into the herd. She was donated because her previous owners found an injury to her leg that was not treatable. They wanted a place where she could be a pasture horse, simply be loved on, and still have a purpose. It took her a while to adjust. She had moved away from a buddy she knew her whole life, and she had a hard time accepting the herd. It was such a special experience watching how hard they worked to accept her and help her feel safe.

Once Genesis settled in, she found so many connections with people who had lost ones they loved, who were worried about relationships, and who were going through major transitions. As her work continued she stepped into her own confidence and her own ability to connect. She began teaching people about connecting to grief and their own shared experience, about the importance of community, about being an individual within a community, and about the importance of being a follower as well. Genesis loves teaching about presence, connection, individuality, and taking care of self.

Age

Her age was generally unknown when she was adopted. She was estimated at about eleven. We celebrate her on April 1, 2008.

Care

Genesis has a permanent stifle injury that only allows her to be a companion horse. She needs daily pain support to manage lameness and stay comfortable. She is on Bute-less pellets every day to help manage inflammation in a natural way, Equioxx when she has a flare-up, and Cosequin to help maintain joint health as she compensates for the injured leg. She would strongly benefit from laser treatments to her injury. We also tape to help her body posture and collect. She gets Masterson Method bodywork when we can, and she loves both the magnetic blanket and the red-light blanket.
