Izzy

Isabelle spent her life as a show horse and was very excited about coming to Renewing Hope Ranch to retire as a therapy horse. Her owner allowed her to join us in 2019 when we found our forever home and could bring the horses here. Isabelle was so happy to find her way here and to have land and freedom with friends.

She immediately stepped into her role wholeheartedly. Isabelle holds a very strong presence in the herd and a very important role. As her years continue here, her role continues to shift, and who Isabelle is remains consistent. She began to teach clients the importance of gentleness, nurturance, and a sweet motherly energy that lets people settle in and feel seen and cared for right away.

Age

We know Isabelle’s exact age because she is one of the horses who came with papers. Her birthday is March 17, 2001.

Care

Isabelle has remained healthy overall. In 2021 she had a really bad sarcoid that needed to be removed. We put her on turmeric to help keep it from coming back, and she has been sarcoid-free since.

She has lost most of her back teeth, which only allows her to digest and get nutrients from grass and mash (soaked pellets and senior grain). In winter she gets mash three times a day; in summer she gets one in the morning and one in the evening because she can sustain during the day on grass.
