Skyy

Skyy was our second horse to join the herd in 2018. She came from a home that could not keep her because of some health things going on. We don’t have much of a backstory other than she came from a “rough and tough cowboy,” and when her first chiropractic session was done her pelvis was not aligned and she had two ribs out of place. We kept helping her feel good in her body so she could really settle in and be a horse.

Skyy has been an amazing teacher about trust and going slow. She holds a certain level of protection when it comes to people, so she isn’t the typical horse people are used to coming in and loving on. The work she teaches is about how to earn and develop a bond that is both mutual and connected. She has taught people the importance of saying no, and the importance of sticking with a request when it is mutually beneficial. Skyy loves teaching the importance of trust, boundaries, and mutual agreement.

Age

Her previous owner did not know exactly how old she was, but guessed around five. We celebrate her on May 18, 2012.

Care

Skyy has some chronic body soreness, along with severe allergies every spring and summer. We get her as many bodywork sessions as we can, and she is on omega-3s and an allergy supplement from Platinum that has given her a little relief (not as much as we would like). In past years we used Zyrtec with mixed success. We continue to look for the best support for her comfort through the year.
